New WEEE regulations seperate electronic recycling

July 1st sees a new set of regulations for Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE), which will put the price of electronic recycling onto the major producers or importers of the items. They will be expected to pay the fees for responsible disposal or recycling of their goods, and the Environment Agency has reported that most major companies are already signed up.

Surveys show lack of recycling and waste management in offices

Surveys conducted by ‘Green Initiatives’ have revealed that individual workers place much of the responsiblity for recycling strategies on managers and company directors. They reported finding it easier to recycle at home, where they listed switching off lights, recycling materials and making sure appliances were turned off from standby modes.
