Encouragement for residential composting

Recycle Now is encouraging residents in Sheffield to invest in a composting bin for their gardens as the Christmas season gets under way. Compost bins can offer an environmentally friendly way to deal with leftovers from Christmas dinners and Boxing Day meals, as well as a way of disposing of garden clippings and dead plants, which can all be put back into the soil and offer nutrient-rich plant food for free.

Recycle Now and the Sheffield Council are partnering up to supply low cost compost bins, and other councils are taking their lead, encouraging residents to recycle as much of their waste as possible in order to cut down the amount of materials going through to landfills.
