Biofuels increase food prices and hunger levels

Recent talks have called for attention and funding to return to hunger levels across the world, since biofuel research has increased food prices by 83%. World leaders have asked that attention and money be diverted from compulsory fuel targets, and that instead the food crisis is moved to the top of the agenda at the upcoming G8 summit.

Fuel creation and recycling methods such as organic waste management and aerobic composting potentially provide an alternative and more efficient and environmentally friendly method of re-using our industrial materials, and some organisations have accused companies of “jumping on the biofuel bandwagon” before undertaking the research and trialling required to establish whether this system is worth the time, money and impact.
