New Biofuel plant planned

A new bio-ethanol and technology demonstration plant is being planned for Hull, supported by Association British Food and DuPont.

Each company involved will be contributing not only funding but their unique specialties in fuel markets, feedstock supplies and biotechnology.

The plant will be constructed on land already used for BP in Hull, “In addition we have also selected Hull as the preferred location for a planned biobutanol demonstration plant as laboratory research work on the production of this first advanced biofuel.”

The plant is hoped to be fully operational by 2009, with intentions to increase investment after biobutanol technology research is advanced enough to validate conversion. Industry expansions such as this are following an increased demand for Biofuels in the market over the past few years.
